Vision, Mission and Aim

INTRODUCTION


The Department of Psychology, Faculty of Education, Yogyakarta State University aims to answer the increasing needs and demands from the community for experts in the field of Psychology who can conduct behavioral analysis and psychological interventions. The Psychology Department prepares professional Psychology graduates with a strong academic and scientific foundation, soft skills, and professional competencies in Psychology that can be applied in education, clinical, industrial, social, and other socio-humanities related fields. Graduates of the Bachelor of Psychology program are conferred with an S.Psi degree and able to join the Indonesian Psychological Association (HIMPSI) membership.

VISION


In 2025, it will become a trusted higher education institution in the field of Psychology that is oriented towards character development based on the values of piety, independence, intellectualism, nationalism, and humanism.

Explanation of the Vision

  • Trusted means being able to generate ideas and ideas for the development of science and society with a strong scientific approach and produce graduates who are competent, adaptive, and highly competitive, independent and competitive at local, national, regional and international levels and recognized by users.
  • Character development means that the educational process at Psychology UNY is oriented towards developing the positive character of students both in attitude and in daily behavior. The development of character values ​​is instilled through training activities, lectures, and self-development through extracurricular activities.
  • Piety means that in carrying out its mandate, UNY with the Psychology S-1 Study Program as a part of it constantly carries out its activities in a way that God Almighty blesses. The bachelor of psychology program will encourage lecturers, students, and education staff to practice their religion and beliefs consistently and respect the practices of other religions. Such religious practice will support the creation of peace from parties who have similarities and differences. With the value of piety, each academic community is expected to (1) have firm faith, (2) be honest, (3) obey the law and God's commands, and (4) have noble character.
  • Independence refers to the professionalism (ability) of a person who is strong in carrying out their mandate so that the way of thinking, acting, and acting is more likely to be based on self-professionalism with full awareness of the consequences for oneself, institutions, society, and the nation; both in the short and long term. Such a person will not act amateurishly but prioritizes self-professionalism, self-confidence, and self-initiative, and who does not always depend on others. This implies the need to develop self-ability and courage in making decisions, implementing them, and being responsible for all the consequences. The values ​​that grow in the academic community that reflect independence are (1) responsible, (2) integrity, (3) trustworthiness, (4) bravery, and (5) entrepreneurship.
  • Intellectualism means that in thinking, acting, and acting, the academic community in the Psychology Study Program of UNY always bases it on scientific truth. Psychology Study Program always tries to support a truth with empirical data. In addition, the Psychology Study Program always encourages its academics to avoid the truth of a single subject. In other words, the Psychology Study Program encourages its academic community to be open to input from other parties. Therefore, every work unit under the auspices of UNY (including the S-1 Psychology Study Program FIP UNY) is encouraged to develop higher-order thinking skills that are supported by the characteristics of an intellectual, namely: (1) capable and smart, ( 2) intelligent, (3) creative, (4) productive, and (5) caring.
  • Nationalism refers to the awareness of identity, national pride, sensitivity and commitment to solving institutional problems and national issues. The national value is expected to be embedded in the academic community of the Faculty of Education, including the Psychology S-1 Study Program under the auspices of the Faculty of Education. Every academic community is encouraged to have an attitude of pride and love for the homeland, a sense of nationalism, a sense of responsibility to the state and nation, and an attitude of contributing to improving the quality of life in society, nation and state based on Pancasila.
  • Humanity refers to attitudes and behaviors that uphold universal values, indicated by an attitude of tolerance and respect for diversity in humans, having a sense of empathy and social sensitivity, and caring for society and the environment.

MISSION


  • Organizing higher education in Psychology that can generate competent, adaptive and highly competitive graduates who can compete at the local, national, regional, and international levels based on the values of piety, independence, intellectualism, nationalism, and humanism.
  • Conduct research that produces novelty in the concept and application of psychology oriented to the growth and development of potential, competence, character, and problem-solving.
  • Carry out professional services by involving students and related parties based on research results and community needs.
  • Organizing student programs in order to develop potential, competence, and shape character.
  • Organizing accountable program governance and collaborating with government and private institutions and institutions that have a concern for the development of human quality.

AIM OF THE PROGRAM

This program aimed to:

  • Generate graduates who are competent, adaptive, and highly competitive, independent and competitive at the regional level, pious, independent, and scholars who uphold national and human values;
  • Generate discovery, development and dissemination of research results that have novelty in the concept and application of psychology oriented towards the growth and development of potential, competence, character, and problem-solving.
  • Implements professional service and services to the community by involving students and related parties based on the results of research and community needs that encourage the development of human potential, the community to realize the community's welfare.
  • The implementation of student programs in order to develop potential, competence, and character building.
  • The implementation of accountable governance and the establishment of cooperation with the government and private institutions and institutions that have a concern for the development of human quality to improve the quality of the alumni.
