On Thursday, August 15, 2024, the Research and Community Service (PPM) Team of the Department of Psychology, UNY, specializing in Measurement and Education, led by Prof. Farida Agus Setiawati, M.Si., organized a Socialization and Practice Workshop on the Use of the Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ) 29 Application for Data Entry and Scoring at the Class IIA Yogyakarta Detention Center. This event was specifically aimed at the clinic staff of the Class IIA Yogyakarta Detention Center as part of an effort to improve the quality of services at the facility.
To date, mental health screening using the SRQ 29 has been underutilized due to the lack of psychology experts available to score and interpret the results. The SRQ 29 application, developed by the PPM Team of the Department of Psychology, UNY, is designed to facilitate the data entry and scoring of SRQ 29. During the event, the detention center staff received training on how to use the application, from data entry to the automated scoring process conducted by the system. The socialization and practice session was delivered by Tria Widyastuti, S.Psi., M.A. It is hoped that this application will make it easier to follow up on the assessment process with SRQ 29.
In his remarks, Drg. Joko Supriyanto, representing the detention center, stated that the implementation of this application is an effort to strengthen the health system at the detention center, particularly in monitoring and managing the mental health of inmates. He also emphasized the importance of staff readiness in understanding and utilizing this technology to support their daily tasks.
The event received positive feedback from the staff at Yogyakarta Detention Center. The development of the SRQ 29 data entry and scoring application significantly eases the follow-up of the assessment process with SRQ 29, especially in the area of mental health, which has been a critical concern.
